  • Mangos

  • Red bell pepper
  • English cucumber – We prefer the bright, mild taste and vibrant green color of an English cucurbit. You don’t even need to peel them! You must peel a standard cucumber.

  • Red onions
  • Fresh herbs are the best! If possible, use fresh mint; do not substitute dried. Mint can be grown at home if it is in season.

  • Fresh cilantro

  • Lime juice

  • Maple syrup or honey

  • Salt and pepper

How to slice a mango

What is the hardest part of this mango salad? Cut a mango This juicy fruit can be cut in many ways. This is our way of cutting a mango.

  1. Remove the pit. Place the mango sideways with its stem facing you. Use a large knife to cut along one edge of the pit. Follow the curve of your pit, starting at 1/4 inch from its center. Then, repeat the process on the opposite side.
  2. Score the mango in squares with a pair knife. Cut through the skin using a paring knife.
  3. Use a spoon to scoop it out.To remove the mango dices, use a large spoon.

The mango salad recipe requires 2 mangos. You can increase the amount of mangos or scale it down. All the ingredients can be used, however you could use three mangos. Add salt as needed. If you like, you can add more lime.

Description

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe mangos* (2 cups)
  • 1 red bell pepper (1 cup diced)
  • 1/2 English cucumber (1 cup chopped)
  • 1/4 Red Onion ( 1 cup Thinly Sliced)
  • 1 cup fresh chopped mint
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice (1 large or 2 small)
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • 14 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • Fresh ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut the mangos. Chop the bell pepper. Cut the English cucumber. Slice the red onion thinly. Mint and cilantro can be chopped. Combine them in a large bowl.
  2. Mix the olive oil, lime juice and honey in a bowl. Mix the ingredients in a bowl. Add the vegetables and mango to the bowl. Finally, add the kosher sea salt. Keeps for up to three days in the refrigerator

Notifications

For a bigger salad, add 3 ripe mangos to the mix and more salt as needed.
